The Weather, family & freinds

So much further south than the UK I expected it to be hot, but the weather has been variable with a lot of cloud cover, seriously affecting my PVs and juice to run the fridge. Yesterday (Tues 6th), the wind suddenly dropped, an hour later a mini hurricane with lots of rain which stopped as quickly as it started. Today, rain on and off and set to continue through Thursday and Friday breaking on Saturday. Although it has given me the opportunity to get this blog up to date I'm going to be well bored by Saturday, sitting in the van surrounded by wet stuff. Wet but not cold, around 20deg I guess.

Sam has arrived in the UK from New Zealand to see her mum who is unwell. She is flying out of Heathrow on the 14th and I've booked a flight back on 13th to see her and attend Kev's memorial at the tennis club. Back to Santiago on Monday 19th.

Ellie has plans to visit with Ollie 13/17 July. I expect to be in Portugal by then, probably Porto.

Before leaving for Santiago the weather finally broke and I was able to go to the beach (12th). When I arrived the guys were using 12m kites. I rigged and got the kite in the air and walked over to pick up my board. The wind had picked up and the kite was lively. Reaching down to grab my board I must have pulled the lines, that and a gust knocked me off my feet. Alex, one of the young guys, was on me instantly, released the emergency and took the kite off me. I packed up my 12m and went to get a 10m kite. By the time I returned the wind had dropped and everyone was on the beach.

These episodes are more than a little embarrassing and are noted by the locals. Contacting instructor Artu the news had already reached him!
