In the morning I packed up all my wet stuff and left Logrono for San Millan de la Cogolla. Mountain roads what fun. This way that way, uphill, flying down again. Nearing my destination I drive to the end of the last village San Millan and stumble across the monestry Yoso. To come across it without expectation was just fantastic. I park up and investigate. I'd sort of come in the back way and just strolled in, an absolute delight
The Yuso monestry is a UNESCO site, part functioning monestry, part hotel and is stunning. It's predecesor, Suso, is built around the mountain caves where Saint Millan lived as a hermit. You can see the burial sites within the caves.

After a couple of nights at the local campsite, where I was ab0ut the sole camper (there were a few in the static vans), it was time to move on, but not before a great bike ride up the valley you can see behind the Cypres trees in the upper photo. So I collect my now dry washing and head off - bound for Madrid.
