At the southern point of the Costa de Caparica is the Lugoa Albufeira. The lake is separated from the Atlantic by a sand dune but there is a narrow opening to the sea, so the lake is tidal.
I find a campsite on the shores of the lake and investigate the kiting. Meira Pro Centre has kiting, windsurf, kayaks, all sorts. Of course no wind is expected until Friday, not surprising really, it's the same coast and the same wind. My Windy App is suggesting there may be wind on Wednesday so I'll wait till then and if out of luck I'm travelling again on Thursday. I thought the guys at the water sports centre made a telling statement, we are into the summer, it is to be expected.
I'm now getting a little concerned about getting to Tarifa and finding somewhere to park the van and a flight home. It's the 9th July and I'm expecting to get home by 26th in just over two weeks and I want to visit Seville and Cadiz too.
I'm not waiting for the wind. There is a possibility it will blow on Thursday but Friday looks good. I'll stay to watch England play Netherlands on Wednesday 15th, I'm not staying on Thursday on the off chance there will be wind. better to travel to my next stop, Alvara in the Algarve, and be there for Friday.
This is a beautiful place but I can only get on the water if it is windy.
