For the late August bank holiday I headed down to Scott's Farm in East Wittering with friends Gill & Ed, I really like this site; no booking, huge fields and good showers. The only drawback was the intent to charge by the unit and they counted my tiny tent, that I use for my kites, as a separate unit +£35. Fortunately the weather was warm and dry so I left my kites in the open. It seems I could have paid for the bus which included the awning, but I didn't have the awning with me. I've got used to travelling light; put up tent, turf all the kiting kit in and I have space in the bus to sleep.

With light offshore winds we went for a mooch about at Bracklesham. Bracklesham Bay is quite a steep gravel beach at high tide and then a flat sandy beach as the tide goes out. With the light off shore wind I tried the buggy at low tide. After a number of good self launches I got asked not to ride the buggy given the number of people on the beach. It wasn't ideal, so I packed up. A rush back to camp to shower and change but not enough time to get last orders at The Lamb. Fortunately we got a table at the indian restaurant in East Wittering.

Camber (6-8th September)

Generally light winds in September but Tues/Weds/Thurs 6-8th looked good so I set off for Camber. I didn't get far! The van was running like a pig so I diverted to Welling and VeeDub. Fortunately James was around and soon had the carbs in pieces. A few hours later I was back on the road with a temporary fix and got down to Camber late. I had intended camping at Rye LTC but the rain was heavy, it was late and I was concerned I might get bogged in the field, so I slept on the beach. Offshore wind on Wednesday so I ran the buggy on the beach.

Finally, get on the water on Thursday and made a few decent runs with my 8m Windrush kite. Unfortunately, because of the tides, I was unable to get on the water until 2:30pm leaving me insufficient time to get back to London for Kian's birthday.
